PLC Engineer - Agri & Food

Function Description

We are looking for a PLC Engineer with experience in commissioning complex machines, affinity with mechatronics engineering and data communication. Your help and expertise are essential to integrate our sub-systems that bring plants with logistics to our robots. Together they will form a fully synchronized food factory of the future.

Saia Agrobotics is a young and dynamic company that wants to drastically change the production of fresh food through robotization. In contrast to current practice, we bring the plants forward individually for central processing. This allows us to grow tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers better and alleviate the heavy labor in the greenhouse.

You will work closely with an interdisciplinary team of experts in the field of AI, greenhouse cultivation, but also with external machine builders and engineering firms to create an integrated system.

We are looking for someone who looks beyond a single subsystem, someone who recognizes future bottlenecks and seeks knowledge and expertise outside Saia where necessary. You work together with both juniors and experienced engineers in different formations. Our close-knit young team consists of highly skilled, motivated and ambitious people who love robots, technology, plants and food. Our workshop is located on the Wageningen Campus, where we work on our robots and machines. We also have offices on campus where all plant, software and hardware engineers work together. We are also building our own greenhouse just around the corner, where we will test our product for our first customers.

• Designing, developing, and implementing PLC-controlled mechatronics systems.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of mechatronics solutions.
• Troubleshooting and providing technical support for existing systems.
• Staying up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to propose innovative solutions.

• A Bachelor's degree in mechatronics, electrical engineering, or a related field (Master's degree is a plus).
• Proven experience in PLC programming and mechatronics system design.
• Proficiency in software such as Siemens, Beckhoff, or other PLC programming platforms.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
